About Our Church

A church is many different things to different people, and there are so many reasons why people choose to go to church. For some people it is a place where they can come to connect or reconnect with God. For others it is about being part of a faith community. Families, perhaps, are looking for a place where their children can grow in faith. Others may be just looking for a place where they can be accepted.

No matter what you seek, or where you are in your faith journey, our mission is to live the way of Christ in love and forgiveness and to provide an affirming, progressive and hopeful place for you to grow. We welcome any fellow pilgrim who is searching for spiritual growth and want you to know that there is a place for you here. Because we are a covenantal church, we believe in freedom of religious conscience. It is our sincere conviction that people of faith can have honest differences of opinion on the questions of the day and still be equally committed to being a disciple of Jesus Christ.

Our Beliefs

United Church of Christ Statement of Faith

We believe in God, the Eternal Spirit, who is made known to us in Jesus our brother, and to whose deeds we testify:

God calls the worlds into being, creates humankind in the divine image, and sets before us the ways of life and death.

God seeks in holy love to save all people from aimlessness and sin.

God judges all humanity and all nations by that will of righteousness declared through prophets and apostles.

In Jesus Christ, the man of Nazareth, our crucified and risen Lord,God has come to us and shared our common lot, conquering sin and death and reconciling the whole creation to its Creator.

God bestows upon us the Holy Spirit, creating and renewing the church of Jesus Christ, binding in covenant faithful people of all ages, tongues, and races.

God calls us into the church to accept the cost and joy of discipleship, to be servants in the service of the whole human family, to proclaim the gospel to all the world and resist the powers of evil, to share in Christ's baptism and eat at his table,to join him in his passion and victory.

God promises to all who trust in the gospel forgiveness of sins and fullness of grace, courage in the struggle for justice and peace, the presence of the Holy Spirit in trial and rejoicing, and eternal life in that kingdom which has no end.

Statement of Inclusivity

As an Open and Affirming Church in the United Church of Christ, we affirm that every person has been created in the image of God and, without exception, we welcome all people who desire to deepen their relationship with their Creator, as revealed in Jesus Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit, to be Full Members of this body of Christ, entitled to all of the rites and Sacraments afforded thereto. We seek to be a church that fosters a welcoming and safe environment for all of our brothers and sisters regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity, or expression. Furthermore, we commit to doing our part, in prayer and in action, to work for the day when all people will know God's unconditional love.
